    Record of Service:

     

    Colin Mellor was born on the 28th of June 1916 in Moonee Ponds, Victoria. He enlisted in the Militia on the 19th of August 1940, was allocated service number V127027 and served as a Signaller with the 24th Infantry Battalion. On the 20th of February 1943 he enlisted in the RAAF and was re-allocated service number 434852.

     

    Colin embarked Melbourne for Canada on the 3rd of June 1943 and trained as a Wireless Operator Air Gunner. He was promoted to LAC on the 22nd of May 1943 and Sergeant on the 10th of April 1944. He embarked Canada for the U.K on the 3rd of August 1944.

     

    Colin was posted to 147 Squadron as a WOAG and promoted to Flight Sergeant on the 10th of October 1944. He served with 147 squadron in France, Germany and Italy and was promoted to Pilot Office on the 4th of April 1945 and Flying Officer on the 4th of October 1945. He returned to Australia on the 28th of November 1945 and was discharged on the 25th of January 1946.
