Record of Service:
Carl Persson was born on the 23rd of October 1925 in Sydney, New South Wales. He was working as a Process Worker when he enlisted in the Australian Army on the 1st of August 1945. He was allocated service number NX207882 and joined the H.Q Recruit Training Centre on the 7th of August 1945.
On the 17th of August 1945 he was AWOL and fined four days pay. On the 13th of November 1945 he marched in to the 2nd Recruit Training Battalion at Canungra and on the 25th of February 1946 he marched out to the 16th Infantry Training Brigade. On the 25th of May 1946 he transferred to the 34th Infantry Training Brigade and embarked from Sydney for Japan.
Carl disembarked in Japan on the 20th of June 1946 and joined the 66th Battalion. On the 2nd of January 1948 he was admitted to the 130th Australian General Hospital (acute confusional state). He was medically evacuated back to Australia on the 9th of March 1948 and discharged medically unfit on the 25th of May 1948.
Carl applied for his service medal entitlements in March 1993 and was awarded the 1934-45 War Medal and General Service Badge. He died on the 7th of July 2009.
