    Record of Service:

     

    Arthur Gray was born on the 15th of April 1890 in Melbourne, Victoria. He enlisted in the A.I.F on the 16th of January 1916 and was allocated service number 19679. He embarked from Melbourne on the 20th of May 1916 with the 29th Battery, 8th Field Artillery Brigade.

     

    Arthur disembarked at Plymouth on the 18th of July 1916 and proceeded overseas to France on the 31st of December 1916. He was taken on strength with the 8th F.A.B on the 6th of January 1917 and transferred to the 3rd D.A.C on the 23rd of January 1917. He transferred back to the 8th F.A.B on the 29th of April 1918.

     

    Arthur was Wounded in Action (GSW hip) on the 19th of October 1918. He returned to Australia on the 24th of January 1919 and was discharged on the 30th of April 1919.

     

    Arthur volunteered again during WW2 (service number W58981) on the 24th of March 1942 and saw home service in Western Australia. He discharged from the 10th Australian Ordnance Stores on the 17th of November 1945.
