Record of Service:
Richard Mezger was born on the 9th of December 1894 in Auburn, Victoria. He was working as a Clerk when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 3rd of August 1915. Richard was allocated service number 7597 and embarked from Melbourne on the 29th of September 1915 with the 11th Reinforcements, 300th Mechanical Transport Company.
On the 30th of March 1916 Richard was taken on strength with the 23rd Depot Unit of Supply and on the 28th of May 1916 transferred to the AASC Supply Depot. On the 12th of July 1916 he joined the 1st Division Supply Column. On the 20th of October 1916 he was charged and found guilty of being AWL and received 21 days field punishment.
In 1917 he was detached to several units including the “K” Supply Column, 8th Field Ambulance, 15th Field Ambulance and 5th Div. Train. On the 12th of March 1918 he was taken on strength with the 5th Div. Mechanical Transport Company. He survived the war and returned to Australia on the 9th of August 1919 and was discharged on the 26th of November 1919.
