Record of Service:
John Lawson was born about 1879 in Glasgow, Scotland. He enlisted in the A.I.F on the 5th of May 1915 and was allocated service number 1034. He was an original member of āCā Company, 19th Battalion and embarked from Sydney with the Battalion on the 25th of June 1915.
John proceeded to join the M.E.F at Gallipoli on the 16th of August 1915 and arrived just in time to participate in the attack on Hill 60 on the 22nd of August 1915. Two days later, on the 24th of August 1915, he was admitted to hospital suffering from Dysentery. On the 29th of August 1915 he was admitted to the 16th Casualty Clearing Station at Mudros.
John returned to the U.K and was discharged on the 10th of April 1916, being permanently unfit for war service.
John is entitled to a 1914-15 Star.
