Samuel Lysaght was born on the 1st of January 1897 in Cheshire, England. He joined the British Army on the 9th of January 1915 and was allocated service number 3307. He served at home with the 5th Battalion, King’s Liverpool Regiment until the 8th of May 1916.
Samuel transferred to the Machine Gun Corps, was re-allocated service number 35024 and joined the B.E.F on the 25th of June 1916. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on the 14th of October 1916, Corporal on the 6th of April 1917 and Sergeant on the 30th of December 1917. He was Wounded in Action (Gassed) on the 13th of April 1918.
Samuel was Killed in Action, whilst serving with the 58th Battalion M.G.C on the 18th of September 1918. He now rests in the Epehy Wood Farm Cemetery, France.
