Record of Service:
William Gregory was born about 1874 in St. Lukes, Middlesex. He attested with the British army on the 29th of March 1892 and was allocated service number 3210. He was posted to the Provisional Battalion on the 26th of January 1893 and to the 1st Bn Cameron Highlanders, in Malta, on the 3rd of March 1893.
William served in Malta and Gibraltar before moving to Egypt on the 30th of September 1897. He was present at the Battle of Atbara and received a gunshot wound at Khartoum, during the Battle of Omdurman, on the 2nd of September 1898. He returned home on the 13th of December 1898 and served in South Africa from the 31st of May 1902 to the 31st of August 1902. He discharged on the 28th of March 1908.
William served during WW1 with the Camerons (service number 3/6088) and Royal Engineers (service number 312393). He was WIA with a GSW to the right thigh on the 3rd of September 1916. He was discharged on the 31st of March 1920.
