Record of Service:
Although not confirmed, it is believed that this medal was awarded to Emile Le Prou. Emile was born in New Zealand on the 16th of December 1936. He served as a Craftsman with the Royal New Zealand Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
In New Zealand the Compulsory Military Training Act 1949 was approved by public referendum, requiring 18-year-old males to complete 14 weeks of full-time training plus part time service. (This began in 1950 and ended in 1958).
In 2011 the New Zealand Defence Service Medal was instituted and Emile received this medal with the C.M.T bar, recognising his service under the Compulsory Military Training Act.
