    Record of Service:

     

    Victor Howe was born on the 29th of April 1908 in Adelaide, South Australia. He was working as a Storeman when he enlisted in the 2nd A.I.F on the 10th of June 1940. He was allocated service number SX4759 and reported to the RRD on the 12th of June 1940.

     

    On the 1st of July 1940 Victor marched into Woodside and joined the 7th Division, Petrol Company. He embarked from Adelaide on the 20th of October 1940 and disembarked in the Middle East on the 24th of November 1940. On the 26th of June 1941 he was evacuated suffering from P.U.O. He rejoined his unit in Syria on the 15th of August 1941. On the 13th of January 1942 Victor transferred to the 5th Company, AASC and on the 12th of February 1942 he returned to Australia.

     

    Victor served in New Guinea with the 5th Company AASC from the 6th of September 1942 to the 30th of January 1943 and was promoted to Acting Corporal on the 3rd of November 1942. He returned to New Guinea with the 2/2nd Australian Supply Depot Company from the 30th of July 1943 to the 1st of March 1944 and on the 26th of February 1944 was promoted to Sergeant. Towards the end of the war, he served in Tarakan and returned to Australia on the 15th of September 1945.

     

    Victor survived the war and was discharged on the 25th of September 1945. He died on the 9th of February 1964.
