    Record of Service:

     

    Percy Mobbs was born on the 24th of May 1897 in Parkes, New South Wales. He was working as a Horse Trainer when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 27th of February 1918. He was allocated service number 51146 and embarked from Sydney with the 1st –15th NSW Reinforcements on the 19th of June 1918.

     

    Percy disembarked at London on the 26th of August 1918 and was taken on strength with the 2nd Battalion on the 3rd of December 1918. On the 17th of January 1919 he transferred to No. 2 Company AASC and then to the 1st Australian Division Train. He returned to Australia on the 5th of January 1920 and was discharged on the 23rd of March 1920.

     

    Post war Percy found himself in trouble with the law and in 1926 he served 5 months in Goulburn Gaol for “Receiving.” He volunteered again for service during WW2 and served (N102418) with the 31st Australian Garrison Battalion. He died in 1965.
