    Record of Service:

     

    Robert Dixon was born on the 27th of March 1894 in England. He enlisted in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force on the 8th of February 1916 and was allocated service number 23984. He embarked from Wellington on the 31st of May 1916 with “A” Company, 13th Reinforcements.

     

    Robert missed his transport ship and was posted as a deserter; he returned to Wellington and was sentenced to 14 days detention. He re-embarked on the 19th of August 1916 with “E” Company, 16th Reinforcements. On the 15th of April 1917 he was taken on strength with the 3rd Battalion, Auckland Infantry Regiment and proceeded overseas to France on the 28th of May 1917.

     

    Robert was Wounded in Action (GSW Rt. Hand) on the 13th of June 1917. He rejoined the Battalion on the 24th of August 1917. On the 20th of July 1918 he transferred to the 2nd Battalion A.I.R and returned to N.Z. He was discharged on the 27th of June 1919.

     

    Robert saw home service in N.Z during WW2.
