Record of Service:
Samuel “Sammy” Bell was born on the 9th of December 1917 in Katoomba, New South Wales. He was working as a printer when he enlisted in the 2nd A.I.F on the 27th of June 1941. He was allocated service number NX19258 and was taken on strength with the 2/30th Battalion the same day.
Sammy embarked from Australia on the 29th of July 1941 and disembarked at Singapore on the 15th of August 1941. He was a member of “B” Company, 10 Platoon when he was Killed in Action on the 29th of January 1942. At the time he was reinforcing the “A” Company position near the 40-mile peg at Namazie Estate.
Samuel now rests in the Kranji War Cemetery in Singapore.
