Arthur Warr was born on the 24th of June 1875 in Islington, Middlesex. He married Eliza Osborne in 1897 and enlisted at Felixstowe, Suffolk for active service with the British Army during WW1. He was allocated service number 6-7480 and joined the 3rd Battalion, Rifle Brigade.
Arthur entered France on the 23rd of October 1914 and qualified for the clasp to the 1914 Star. His Medal Index Card incorrectly lists his surname as “Ware” with a notation stating that his true name is “Warr.” Both medal rolls list his surname as “Ware” and his 1914 Star is named accordingly.
Arthur was Killed in Action on the 7th of March 1915 and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, in Belgium. His wife Eliza, remarried and relocated to New South Wales, Australia.
