    Thomas Dickinson was born on the 1st of September 1894 in Baramba Creek, near Gayndah, Queensland. He was working as a Carpenter when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 5th of July 1915. He was allocated service number 491 and was an original member of B Company, 31st Battalion which embarked from Melbourne on the 9th of November 1915.

     

    Thomas disembarked at Suez on the 13th of December 1915 and embarked to join the B.E.F in France on the 16th of June 1916. The 31st Battalion had only been in the front-line trenches for three days when they took part in the Battle of Fromelles on the 19th of July 1916. Thomas was on strength with the 31st Battalion for the battle and was one of the few who escaped becoming one of the Battalions 572 casualties.

     

    On the 17th of April 1917 Thomas was admitted to hospital and on the 2nd of May 1917 was transferred to England. He returned to Australia, for a change, (suffering from Nephritis) on the 22nd of July 1917 and was discharged M.U from the 1 M.D on the 26th of October 1917.

     

    He died in Brisbane on the 19th of April 1923.
