Record of Service:
Robert Lindley was born on the 29th of August 1907 in Brisbane, Queensland. He was working as a draftsman when he joined the CMF. He was allocated service number Q185146 and was promoted to Lieutenant on the 27th of November 1939 and Temporary Captain on the 19th of March 1941.
Robert’s exact service history is unknown as his service dossier is yet to be accessed through the NAA site. However, at some stage he joined the 2nd A.I.F in New Guinea and was re-allocated service number QX35025.
On the 30th of November 1945 he was transferred from the 59th Australian Corps Field Park Company to the Royal Australian Engineers. On the 17th of July 1959 he was transferred to the CMF, RAE Eastern Command. On the 17th of October 1959 he was placed on the retired list with the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He died on the 19th of August 1964.
Robert was awarded the Efficiency Decoration in November 1950. Listed in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No.70, 23rd of November 1950.
