    Record of Service:

     

    Charles Lambert was born on the 20th of March 1884 in Manchester, England. He was working as a Clerk when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 5th of August 1915. He was allocated service number 3398 and embarked from Freemantle on the 2nd of November 1915 with the 11th Reinforcements, 11th Battalion.

     

    On the 2nd of March 1916 he joined the 11th Battalion and on the 20th of March 1916 embarked to join the B.E.F in France. On the 30th of May 1916 Charles was Wounded in Action (gun shot wound thigh) and evacuated to the 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station.

     

    On the 13th of February 1917 Charles embarked for Australia for a “three-month change.” He did not return to the war and was discharged from the 5th M.D, medically unfit on the 30th of August 1917. He died on the 18th of December 1961 in Bunbury, Western Australia.

     

    Included in the sale is a large assortment of Charles’s WW1 effects including his discharge certificate, I.D tag, Silver War Badge, W.A. RSA Badge, 2 x Colour patches (removed from his uniform) Discharged Returned Badge, RSL Badges, Nearest Female Relatives Badge and lucky charms, etc. Also, copies of the badge rolls confirming that the SWB and DRB were awarded to Charles.
