    Record of Service:

     

    Kevin “Smokey” Dawson was born on the 19th of September 1949 in Armidale, New South Wales. He took part in the Australian National Service Scheme and was allocated service number 2137801.

     

    Kevin deployed to Vietnam with the RAAMC and served with the 1st Australian Field Hospital from the 2nd of June 1971, until they were withdrawn from Vietnam on the 25th of November 1971.

     

    Kevin’s exact service history is unknown as his dossier is yet to be accessed though the NAA site. However, he did serve post war and was awarded the Defence Force Service Medal as a Corporal on the 21st of March 1986. Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No. S 125.

     

    Kevin served for 177 days in Vietnam and fell short of qualifying for the South Vietnam Star by four days.

     

    Kevin died on the 19th of May 2011.
