    Record of Service:

     

    James Boyle is a particularly unlucky name for WW1 casualties to the Mercantile Marine.

     

    There are three possibilities for this medal. All three men met their fate as a result of enemy submarines.

     

    Fireman and Trimmer James Boyle who drowned whilst serving on S.S Quantock on the 27th of April 1917.

     

    Able Seaman James Boyle who drowned whilst serving on S.S Moorlands on the 24th of June 1918.

     

    Sailor James Boyle who drowned whilst serving on S.S Lesto on the 23rd of May 1917.
