Record of Service:
Michael Martin was born on the 30th of November 1937 in Horsham, West Sussex, England. He arrived in Western Australia, from the U.K aged 10, on the 16th of May 1948.
Michael enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on the 27th of July 1956, for a six-year engagement. He was allocated Official Number R52214 and joined HMAS Cerberus the same day. On the 17th of June 1957 he joined HMAS Sydney and on the 28th of November 1957 joined HMAS Warramunga. He was rated Ordinary Seaman on the 27th of February 1957 and Able Seaman on 27th of August 1958.
Michael’s final posting was to HMAS Barcoo in January 1960, where he served until the 30th of May 1960. Following this he found himself in trouble and spent time at Holsworthy. He is noted on his Record of Service Card for “Dissmisal + 60 days imprisonment.”
