    Record of Service:

     

    Keith Stewart was born on the 21st June 1928 in Heathcote, Victoria. He was working as a Block Presser when he enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on the 21st of June 1946. He was allocated Official Number 28689 and joined HMAS Barcoo.

     

    Keith then served on HMAS Australia and Tarangau (a shore base establishment near Manus Island). In April 1951 he was posted to HMAS Murchison, where he saw active service during the Korean War from the 9th of May 1951 to the 19th of February 1952. Keith was to serve on Burdekin, Barwon, Sydney, Tobruk and finally Quickmatch before discharging from the Navy in late 1958.

     

    Following his time in the RAN, Keith joined the Melbourne Fire Brigade and was awarded the Metropolitan Fire Brigade Long and Good Service Medal on the 15th of January 1975. He was awarded the National Medal as a Senior Fireman on the 9th of December 1982 and a clasp to the National Medal on the 3rd of September 1985.  Keith died in Victoria in June 2013.
