    Record of Service:

     

    Edward Potter was born about 1863 in Marlborough, Wiltshire. He was working as a Grocer and stated previous service with the 3rd Battalion when he attested on the 8th of November 1882. He was allocated service number 242 and joined the 1st Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment.

     

    Edward served at home from the 8th of November 1882 until the 16th of September 1895. He then served in the East Indies form the 17th of September 1895 until the 5th of November 1902. Following this, he returned home, where he served until he discharged on the 7th of November 1903. He was promoted to Corporal on the 8th of August 1883 and Sergeant on the 28th of October 1885.

     

    Edward was recommended for the Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on the 1st of October 1902, having completed 21 years’ service. He was awarded the LSGC Medal whilst holding the rank of Orderly Room Sergeant. At the time of his discharge this was his full medal entitlement.
