Record of Service:
Albert Anderson was born in Ringarooma, Tasmania on the 21st of November 1883. (Son of William and Eliza Anderson). He was working as a Bushman in New Zealand when he enlisted in the N.Z.E.F on the 13th of December 1915. (On enlistment he stated that his birth year was 1885). He was allocated service number 27793 and embarked from New Zealand on the 26th of June 1916 with “A” Company, 14th Reinforcements.
Albert disembarked at Devonport on the 22nd of August 1916 and proceeded overseas to France on the 14th of September 1916. On the 1st of October 1916 he joined the 1st Battalion, Auckland Regiment and was Wounded in Action on the 23rd of June 1917. He was detached to the Australian Tunnellers on the 11th of December 1917 and returned to his Battalion on the 19th of January 1918.
Albert was promoted to Lance Corporal on the 20th of April 1918 and on the 15th of August 1918 was Wounded in Action (2nd occasion, S.W thumb and leg). He survived the war and was discharged on the 18th of November 1918. He returned to Pt. Melbourne on the 25th of January 1919 and died in N.Z on the 6th of September 1961.
