Record of Service:
Stanley Nielson was born about 1895 in Rockhampton, Queensland. He was working as a Gardener when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 31st of January 1916. He was allocated service number 5734 and embarked from Brisbane on the 4th of May 1916 with the 18th Reinforcements, 15th Battalion.
On the 30th of September 1916 Stanley proceeded overseas to France and on the 16th of October 1916 was taken on strength with the 15th Battalion. On the 5th of July 1917 he was Wounded in Action (GSW Knee). Recovering from his wounds Stanley re-joined the Battalion on the 9th of February 1918. On the 15th of March 1918 he was admitted to hospital suffering from pneumonia.
Stanley re-joined the 15th Battalion on the 17th of August 1918. He survived the war and returned to Australia on the 7th of February 1919 and was discharged from the 1 M.D on the 19th of May 1919. Stanley died in Rockhampton on the 13th of September 1931 when he fell from a tree and fractured his skull.
