Clifford Goodger was born on the 5th of December 1894 in Gawler, South Australia. He was working as a Farmer when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 29th of January 1916. He was allocated service number 2633 and embarked with his brother (2634 Elliott) on the 13th of July 1916 from Adelaide with the 19th Reinforcements, 3rd Light Horse Regiment.
On the 2nd of December 1916 Clifford was taken on strength with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment. On the 4th of January 1917 he transferred to the 1st Light Horse Brigade Machine Gun Squadron. Clifford was on strength with the Squadron until he was evacuated sick to hospital on the 6th of July 1918 suffering from Malaria. On the 31st of October 1917 elements of this Squadron provided fire support at the Battle of Beersheba.
Clifford rejoined the Squadron on the 15th of September 1918, however continued to suffer from the effects of Malaria and returned to Australia on the 4th of March 1919. He was discharged from the 4 M.D on the 21st of May 1919.
Clifford saw home service as a Corporal with the Militia during WW2 (S1415). He died in Gawler on the 19th of May 1964.
