Record of Service:
James Watt was born about 1890 in Morningside, Scotland. He was working as a Barman in Sydney when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 17th of October 1916. He was allocated service number 31849 and embarked from Sydney on the 2nd of December 1916 with the 5th Reinforcements, Medium Trench Mortar Battery.
James disembarked at Plymouth on the 17th of February 1917 and proceeded overseas to France on the 8th of May 1917. On the 29th of May 1917 he was taken on strength with the 4th Divisional Ammunition Column. On the 1st of August 1917 he was admitted to hospital suffering from P.U.O.
James returned to the 4th D.A.C on the 15th of October 1917, where he continued to serve until the 12th of December 1918, when he transferred to Admin. HQ in London. He returned to Australia on the 5th of April 1919 and was discharged on the 31st of May 1919.
