    Thomas Picot was born on the 10th of January 1893 in New South Wales. He was a Commercial Traveller residing in Vaucluse, NSW when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 18th of January 1915.

     

    On enlistment Thomas stated that he had 2 years previous service with the Senior Cadets – 21st Infantry Regiment. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on the 6th of July 1915 and on the 29th of September 1915 transferred to ā€œCā€ Company, 18th Battalion at Gallipoli. On the 3rd of December 1915 he was admitted to hospital (sickness, not stated).

     

    On the 7th of January 1916 he was promoted to Lieutenant and on the 18th of March 1916 proceeded to join the B.E.F. Sadley he was Killed in Action (killed outright by a shell) on the 29th of July 1916 during the Battle of Pozieres. He now rests in the Pozieres British Cemetery, France.
