Sidney Hook was born on the 6th of April 1887 in Orroroo, South Australia and was working as a Farmer when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 2nd of March 1916. He was allocated service number 3001 and embarked from Melbourne on the 9th of October 1916 with the 22nd Reinforcements, 3rd Light Horse Regiment.
Sidney disembarked at Suez on the 6th of November 1916 and was taken on strength with the 3rd LHR on the 14th of February 1917, just in time for the second battle of Gaza. Sidney was Wounded in Action (GSW hand) on the 14th of November 1917 during the Regiments advance to Jaffa, following the fall of Beersheba.
On the 16th of April 1918 Sidney returned to his regiment and on the 12th of January 1919 was promoted to Temporary Farrier Corporal. He returned to Australia on the 16th of May 1919. Sidney died on the 25th of February 1963.
